A good panelbeater & spraypainter

Postby KeithS on Mon Jan 25, 2010 7:32 pm

Does anyone know of or has used a good panelbeater local to Auckland they could recommend? I'm looking to get some work done and i know they can be very hit and miss. I'm picking finding someone enthusiastic about Cossies or at least RS fords will help get a quality job done.

What sort of work needs doing? I know a couple of guys that are panel beaters that are into RS Fords but it depends on what needs to be done. One now has a tractor repair business but still does panelbeating for a few people and the other works for a panelbeater but does a bit of stuff on the side as well. Cliff and Michael Gwilliam know a good painter that is not too expensive.

Cheers

It depends on how far i can stretch the budget. I would like fix up the body from head to toe but i want to start with the underbody. I want to get it sandblasted and a new seal applied along with a couple of minor repairs before they become a problem.

I'll have to come have a look sometime soon. You must have had a complete repray for that cash i'm guessing? I'm planning on pulling mine off the road for at least the winter but more likely a year when the rego comes up in april.

we do know a good painter, he painted my mk1 escort and will most probably paint the xpack soon. he paints all of our carbon fibre superyacht parts at work so knows his stuff and we can get GLASURIT paints at trade which is what most top end car restorers use on show cars. and he does do CASH deals!!!!! :D

That sounds great! Your escort has a relly nice finish on it. I'm planning to get this done during the winter months. Between now and stripping the car i plan to get the some other new parts bolted up. I want to make sure everything fits before panel and paint work so i know i don't have to drill anything.

Hi Keith, sorry for the late reply.
The Ford badges were sourced here from John Andrew.
The other badges were brought off ebay U.K from a chap in England 'Cosworth Shop' if I remember correctly. I think they're all obsolete now and he may only have a few left.
